Jamshedpur June 10: There is much more to a married woman than, as is the popular belief, just her shackles.
While a number of Indian screen divas have proved their mettle even after their marriage, the women of the steel city, too, are not far behind.
The ?Jewels of Jamshedpur? contest, featuring the married women of the city, to be held at the Golmuri Club on June 24, is a testimony of the statement.
The contest is in its second year and judging by its overwhelming response it received in its opening year, the organisers expect the show to be a thumping success.
The show, which hopes to celebrate the essence of Indian women, is being organised by the National Institute of Fashion Designing, Jamshedpur. But unlike last year, preparations are completely going to be confined in-house.
Right from the stage decoration, to the designing of garments to be sashayed on the ramp, the 100-odd students of NIFD have taken it upon themselves to lay out the nitty-gritty of the entire event.
The organisers have received a total of 40 entries this year, out of which only 10 have been selected for the final round. But the organisers are tightlipped about their identities.
Once the names are announced, the final 10 will undergo rigorous training sessions with the wannabe designers before they finally set the ramps ablaze.
Apart from the participants, the students of NIFD, Jamshedpur, are also spending sleepless nights to stitch the perfect garment and also to put up an impeccable show on D-day.
The show would be divided into eight exciting rounds with renowned models from Calcutta sizzling the ramp for five rounds displaying the creations of the students.
The show would be choreographed by renowned Calcutta-based designer Bobby Sen and the participants would have to undergo the final dress rehearsals a day before the show on the club premises.
The organisers have decided to provide a fare of sarees for the participants with a blend of Indo-western fusion. ?This is a deliberate attempt keeping in mind the taste of the people who generally prefer traditional attires,? said Neetu Chopra, the director of NIFD, Jamshedpur.
The organisers have also decided to rope in Gladrags Mega Model finalist and supermodel Nichola Domes to act as the emcee in the show.
