New Delhi, June 10: Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL), the countrys largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today launched the Avenger, priced at Rs 63,000 ex-showroom Calcutta.
The Avenger is the technology-showcase for Bajaj and will kick-start the cruiser bike segment in India. A typically low-slung bike, the Avenger will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art Chakan plant in Pune.
S. Sridhar, vice president (marketing and sales), Bajaj Auto, said, The new Avenger retains all the advantages, and indeed surpasses some of them, of the original Eliminator. We have also been able to offer it at an extremely competitive price of only Rs 60,000 ex-showroom New Delhi. We expect that this initiative will bring back the pleasure of riding back onto Indian roads.
Bajaj Auto chairman, Rahul Bajaj, said, Once again our research and development team has stood up to the occasion and come out with a class leader product comparable to the best available internationally.
The Avenger comes with a 180-cc DTS-i engine technology that incorporates another innovative Bajaj technology, ExhausTEC, for better low-end torque.
The company claimed that riders could now expect crisp carburettor for instant response in tandem with a light throttle feel.
