Jamshedpur, June 9: The Jharkhand government has decided to set up a special board for ensuring smooth and timely implementation of major projects in the state.
This is the first time that such a step has been taken, with the NDA government apparently unhappy with the tardy development projects.
Chief minister Arjun Munda has already given his nod for the constitution of this high-powered committee that will comprise a select few top bureaucrats of the state from different departments.
The panel is expected to become functional within the next few months.
Sources in the chief minister?s office (CMO) said the main function of the committee would be to plan projects according to priority and with an eye on the resources available in the state.
?We have decided to form the board since we feel that special focus is needed for planning and execution of the state?s projects to utilise our resources more fruitfully. We simply cannot afford to squander away the state?s resources by haphazard planning and delays,? Munda said.
