Tata Tele chief

New Delhi, June 8: Tata Teleservices has appointed Darryl Green as its first chief executive officer. 'Green will have full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the company and will provide vision and leadership to successfully achieve its goals,' a Tata Teleservices statement said. Earlier, Green was with Vodafone KK, Japan for over three years.

Sensex soars

Mumbai, June 8: The sensex today shot up by 77 points to close at 6858.24 against yesterday's 6781.25 on the back of heavy buying by local funds and foreign institutional investors. The rupee today closed at 43.50 per dollar, a steep rally of 5 paise over the previous close of 43.55 against the US currency.

Jindal issue

Mumbai, June 8: Jindal Poly Films Ltd has fixed a price band of Rs 360-400 per share for its public issue which will raise Rs 300 crore. The proceeds of the issue, which will open tomorrow, will be used to fund the expansion of the company's facilities at Nasik and Khanvel.

HLL move

Guwahati, June 8: Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) will soon transfer its tea business to Doomdooma India Ltd ' one of its FMCG subsidiaries. This will make it a 'focussed self- supporting business'.

Citigroup

Mumbai, June 8: Citigroup has appointed Ajay Sondhi as managing director and head of its global wealth management for the Indian subcontinent.
