| Jharkhand Armed Police jawan Baikunth Sharma
was shot at by his brother on Friday. The victim, a resident
of Madho Singh Bagan area in Sidhgora, has been admitted to
MGM Medical College Hospital with injuries in both his hands.
Sidhgora police have registered a case of attempt to murder
against assailant R.N. Sharma. Sharma is a constable in the
East Singbhum district police.
Directive
Seraikela-Kharsawan deputy commissioner Nagendra Prasad Singh has directed the district officials to ensure that heavy equipment are not used during any government project. The move has been initiated to provide employment opportunities in the district. The deputy commissioner said use of machines restrict the employment generation for projects that are implemented under Food-For-Work Programme, draught relief assistance fund and so on.
Function
The three-day religious session of Anand Marg Pracharak Samgha started on Friday at Anand Nagar (Pundag) in Purulia district (West Bengal) which will continue till June 5. According to PRO of the organisation Acharya Kalnyaneshwaranand more than 5,000 disciples attended the function. Religious dances, religious songs, prayers and other rituals including sadhna and tandav were performed in the morning and evening sessions, in which, all the participants took a keen interest. Later, speakers told the gathering about the importance of the sect and what it was doing for the society.
Jumbo test
The state forest department has recommended forensic test to ascertain the exact reason that led to the death of an elephant at Saranda forest earlier this week. Conservator of forests K.K. Chatterjee said the viscera samples will be sent to the Patna-based animal forensic laboratory soon. The forest department has recovered the tusks of the dead elephant which were missing.
