Jamshedpur, June 3: The Union ministry of small-scale industries has called upon industrialists of Adityapur to avail of the schemes offered by the Centre for the growth of their units.
B.K. Sinha, joint development commissioner of the Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), a wing of the Union ministry, today shed light on the schemes in a meeting with a cross-section of industrialists at Vikas Bhavan here.
Vandana Dadel and N.H. Ram, the managing director and secretary of Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) respectively, were present in the hour-long meeting.
According to sources, the senior functionary of SISI informed the Union government to come forward with a scheme to provide one-time grant to industrialists who are involved in acquiring ISO 9000 series certification to improve the quality of their products.
?The maximum amount that an industrialist can avail of under this scheme is Rs 75,000,? Sinha said.
The SISI official said during his interaction with the industrialists that the Centre is committed to ensure the proper growth of small-scale units. ?The government wants entrepreneurs in the small-scale sector to avail of the opportunities to make their unit prosper,? he added.
According to Sinha, Small Industries Development Bank of India recently announced that it would provide loans to interested entrepreneurs in the small-scale sector without any collateral security up to Rs 25 lakh.
The entrepreneurs, on the other hand, suggested a few measures. ?We suggested that the Centre come up with some schemes which offer subsidy to industrialists who want to invest their money without borrowing from financial institutions to upgrade their units,? said a source.
?We pointed out that there are several small-scale industrial units in Adityapur which have procured ISO 9000 series certification, much before the announcement of incentives by the Centre for the units going in for such certifications. Now, these companies are in the process of acquiring ISO-TS-16949 certification, which is expensive. Our suggestion was that the Centre should provide grants to those units that are trying to acquire the certification,? said Adityapur Small Industries Association president R.K. Sinha.
