Curtains down on fun camp

Ranchi, June 3: The curtains finally came down on the Cockerel Summer Camp at Oranmajhi here today with 90-odd participants putting up a scintillating show to mark the end.

The show, which included skits, group dances and other programmes, received a thunderous applause from one and all.

While the children represented unity in diversity, presenting Nepali, dandiya and other group dances, their skits were underscored with social messages. One depicted the ill-effects of felling trees and the necessity to save the environment, whereas another spread the message of literacy.

Major general Dalip Bharadwaj, the general officer in commanding and Renu Bharadwaj, the president of the Army Wives? Welfare Association, were present on the occasion along with Brigadier S.P. Sharma, the station commander of Ranchi.

The army officials maintained that the camp is organised each year to infuse in the young souls a love for adventure. An emphasis was laid on environment awareness keeping in mind the World Environment Day on June 5.

The participating children pointed out that the camp had been great fun besides being a learning experience. Rahul said: ?I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and interaction with my friends.? Aditya added, ?This was my first camp and I hope to return next year.?
