Edith Douglas retain title

School cricket

Guwahati, May 31: Edith Douglas High School, Mariani, retained the Bhabani Prasad Baruah Trophy in the inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Jorhat District Sports Association. They defeated Railway High School, Jorhat, by eight wickets in the final at Jorhat today.

Railway High School elected to bat and were skittled out for 37 in 13.2 overs. Six of the Jorhat batsmen were out for nought while Sushanta Das was the highest scorer for the side, scoring just five.

Edith Douglas School skipper Suraj Chetri and Pranay Paul shared four wickets each, giving away 12 and nine runs respectively.

In reply, the Mariani boys ? who were defending the title ? scored 38, losing two wickets in 5.4 overs. Samaresh Dutta topscored with nine.
