Top players for rapid chess
The Chess Players? Association of India (CPAI)-organised three-day all-India Open rapid chess tournament will commence at the Regency Banquet and Convention Centre, Hungerford Street on June 3.
Dibyendu Barua, Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Sandipan Chanda, Tejas Bakre, RB Ramesh, world junior champion P. Harikrishna and many other top Indian players are expected to take part. Koneru Humpy is also likely to participate.
The total prize money of the tournament will be Rs 2 lakh with the winner getting Rs 50,000.
Six-way lead
Six players ? Tanmoy Pattanayak, Debaditya Sinha Biswas, Indradip Giri, Sandipan Chatterjee, Joydeep Dutta and Sankar Majumdar ? are sharing the lead with five points after the sixth round of the state junior chess championships on Friday. In the women?s event, Supriya Majhi was the sole leader with five points. Swati Mohota and Payel Guha were in the second spot with four points.
TT meet
Krittika Sinha will face Debjani Pal Chowdhury in the final of the cadet girls section of the Kalyan Jayant Memorial table tennis meet on Friday. Krittika beat Payel Moitra while Debjani got past Anusree Hazra in the semis.

Elliott Shield
Ashutosh College made the final of the Duckback Elliott Shield at the Calcutta University ground on Friday. They beat Rabindra Maha Vidyalaya, Champadanga 3-0 in the semi-final. Achyut Ghosh scored a brace and Amit Biswas completed the tally.
