Clean chit to Bihar gangster

Jamshedpur, May 24: Police today gave a clean chit to gangster Giridhari Singh in the Ajay Singh abduction case. Giridhari was recently arrested from Mokama in Bihar in connection with the case.

Police superintendent Sanjay Anand Lathkar said it appears that Giridhari might not be involved in the abduction of the industrialist.

?Giridhari has divulged everything about the abductions he had committed in Bihar till the recent past. However, he denied having a hand in Singh?s abduction. Intensive grilling for the past few days has led us to conclude that he might not be involved in the case,? Lathkar said.

The police superintendent, however, added that irrespective of Giridhari?s involvement in the crime, they will not allow the case to die down.

Lathkar said they have some new clues and would investigate the case in that direction. He declined to reveal the fresh clues. ?The police are waiting to arrest the actual gangsters involved in Singh?s abduction,? Lathkar hinted.

Giridhari was sent back to jail after the end of his police remand today. He was in police remand since Saturday and interrogated in connection with Singh?s abduction. Apart from Giridhari, the police had arrested another suspect from Gorakhpur, Pintu Tiwary. The police sent both the gangsters to jail after the interrogation came a cropper.

Giridhari, who was wanted in several murder and abduction cases in Bihar, was brought here by the district police on transit remand from the neighbouring state. He would be sent back to Bihar shortly.

A resident of Rahargora under Parsudih police station, Ajay Singh was abducted from Tamar along NH 33 in Ranchi district on April 12. The industrialist, who is known for his proximity to chief minister Arjun Munda, was in captivity along with his car driver Ravindra Karmakar at a place near Patna.
