JCT hold EB in U-19 NFL

East Bengal failed to get past JCT in the under-19 National Football League at the Barasat Stadium on Monday. They were held 2-2.

For East Bengal, Arin Datta and Joydeep Debnath scored the goals.

in semis

Chapadanga College defeated eight-man Netaji Nag-ar College 5-3 and moved into the semi-finals of the Duckback Elliot Shield football tournament at CU ground.

Parimal Adhikary (2), Biplab Mitra, Sitaram Bag and Saikat Pal found the target for the winners. Suman Saha, Susanta Dutta and Shyamsundar Bhowmick reduced the margin. Incidentally, three Netaji Nagar players were red-carded.

Table tennis

Santanu Majumdar and Kanchan Basak won the me-n's and women's crowns, respectively, at the Howrah district table tennis champion-ships at the St Thomas Church School Monday.

Santanu defeated Chiranjib Chowdhury 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8 while Kanchan got the better of Kabita Das 11-4, 11-6, 12-10, 9-11, 11-7.

Junior golf

A seven-member India team, including three girls, will participate in the 26th Asia Pacific junior golf meet, to be held in Jeju Do, South Korea, from May 31 to June 3.

According to information received here, Vaishavi Sinha, Bhavana Shetty and Meghna Bal have made it to the team.

Das champion

Dilip Das with 6.5 points clinched the crown in the 24th Howrah district chess meet organised by the South Howrah Chess Academy. Das scored 6.5 points and bagged a prize money of Rs 1500. Su-priya Majhi finished second.

Junior cricket

Howrah Union CC defeated Deepam XI by four wickets in the all India Pepsi cricket me-et in Bangalore on Monday. According to information reaching here. Deepam XI scored 164 for eight while Ho-warh Union reached their target in 18.1 overs.
