SAIL pump in 10 in Merchants' Cup soccer

SAIL blanked out Metal Junction 10-1 in The Telegraph Merchants' Cup five-a-side football tournament at CC&FC on Wednesday.

EB contracts

East Bengal have extended their contracts with several key players including Alvito D'Cunha, Sangram Mukherjee and Shylo Malsawmtluanga for another couple of years.

Welcoming the decision as a 'professional attitude from the club', Alvito said he is ready to give more to the club. 'We are all professionals and football is our bread and butter. So, when you know you are on contract for a certain period of time, it boosts up your confidence. I'm ready to serve the club with more intensity,' Alvito said.

East Bengal notched up a comfortable 3-1 win over SBT in the under-19 National Football League at Barasat Stadium on Wednesday.

CPT job for Bhaskar

Former India captain Bhaskar Ganguly has been named the goalkeeper coach of Calcutta Port Trust. According to the club official, they will decide the chief coach soon.

Elliott Shield

Asutosh College beat SRL Mahavidyalaya by 4-2 and moved into the quarter finals of inter-college football meet for the Duckback Elliott Shield, at the CU ground on Wednesday.

Amit Biswas and Biswajit Biswas scored a double each for the winners while Swapan Sarkar and Sukhen Das reduced the margin for SRL Mahavidyalaya.

Tollygunge win

Tollygunge Agragami defeated Dakshin Kalikata Sansad (DKS) by a slender two-run margin in the A. N. Ghosh trophy match on Wednesday. In reply to Tollygunge's 170 for six the losers finished on 168 for seven.

Brief scores ' Tollygunge Agragami 170/6 (Sanjib Goel 48; Prabir Mukherjee 3/30). DKS 168/7 (Soham Ghosh 63; Abhishek Jhunjhunwala 3/30). Tollygunge won by 2 runs.
