Sneak peek

Netaji Subhas Chandra bose: the forgotten hero is the most ambitious project to date of director Shyam Benegal. Reportedly, a Rs 40 crore movie it had Benegal travelling from India to Germany to the rugged terrain of Uzbekistan to the freezing cold of Ladakh and to the wilderness of Myanmar for authenticity.Though Kabul features prominently in the story, political instability made it impossible to shoot there. Similar hurdles, like the controversy regarding Netaji’s marriage, did put speedbreakers to the historical film, but that didn’t stop Benegal from making history on celluloid. Sachin Khedekar looks his part and plays Netaji to the ‘T’. Music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar enhance the gravity of the film. A well-researched film, it touches upon both the widely known and the unknown factors of Netaji’s life.
