Lucknow, May 7: Rahul Gandhi today met the bereaved family members of Pandit Lokpati Tripathi at Varanasi but the visit turned into a major political event for the local leaders, reports our special correspondent.

The Amethi MP, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee leaders including Salman Khursheed, visited Tripathi’s family this morning and expressed his condolences on the death of the senior leader. The former Uttar Pradesh minister died on April 26.

Enthused by Rahul’s visit, hundreds of Youth Congress leaders thronged the deceased leader’s house to meet the MP.

Khursheed said the enthusiasm has proved that Rahul is now the leader of the country by representing the new generation of Congress leaders.
