KLO top gun held

Cooch Behar, April 29: Pulastha Burman, a Kamtapur Liberation Organisation founder member, was arrested from Mekhliganj here this morning.

Police said Burman, 35, was held moments after he entered India from Bangladesh.

Vyas concern

Calcutta: Girl trafficking and treatment meted out to widows are issues of utmost importance for Bengal, said Girija Vyas, the National Commission for Women chief who was here on Friday. The city ranks behind only Delhi and Mumbai in the number of rapes, she pointed out, adding 'dowry is also a big problem'. Vyas met government officials, NGOs and women professionals.

CPM arrests

Krishnagar: Four people, including CPM zonal member Dulal Biswas's son, were held on Friday for the murder of three partymen. The trio was killed at Nadia's Hanskhali on Sunday.
