pedal push

Twin comfort

Here?s a cycle worth taking more than just a glance at. Obviously, it?s a two seater bike ? but both the seats are for the rider! Invented by Luo Jiaping of Beijing, the cycle allows the rider a choice of two seats depending on the riding conditions. The higher seat apparently allows the rider to push the pedals faster, using the rider?s body weight. This saves upto a third of one?s energy. On the other hand, the lower seat is perfect for busy city roads, where it is necessary to halt in an instant. The rider can use his feet to do that while perched on the lower seat. Luo, who owns a cycle shop, has applied for a patent and is looking for a manufacturer who will produce his unique cycle on a large scale. Now, why don?t you ask Dad to buy you one of those for your next birthday?

Home education

Iraqi kids have been having a tough time recently, what with the war and the violence. But things will look up soon, if the ministry of education in the country can carry its plans forward. The ministry will launch a new education TV channel in April that will help school students to take additional lessons sitting at home. This will be especially useful in areas where the fighting has made it impossible for students to leave their homes. There will be six-hour-long programmes every day.
