More reforms in offing

Washington, April 18: The government will introduce the next phase of reforms to wipe out extreme poverty by 2015 and sustain a 7-8 per cent growth rate. 'The post-1990 reforms has put India on a high-growth trajectory. We are now in the process of introducing second-generation reforms,' finance minister P. Chidambaram said.

Apollo GDR

Chennai, April 18: The Apollo Hospitals board has approved a $135-million global depository receipts (GDR) issue. An extraordinary general meeting will be held on May 24 to obtain shareholders' approval.

CMC net dips

Mumbai, April 18: CMC Ltd has recorded a 44.6 per cent dip in its consolidated net profit at Rs 24.79 crore in 2004-05 compared with Rs 44.76 crore in 2003-04. The board has recommended a dividend of 45 per cent.

RIL results

Mumbai, April 18: The board of Reliance Industries (RIL) will consider the financial results of the company for 2004-05 on April 27.

Sify rates

Chennai, April 18: Sify has slashed the international calling rates using its Net phone service, Sify Talk, from India to the US, Canada and the UK to Rs 2.99 per minute.
