Sayantika, Kabita in title-clash
Sayantika Kundu will face Kabita Das in the women?s singles final of the Calcutta table tennis meet. In Monday?s semis, Sayantika defeated Rajashree Sha 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 while Kabita beat Ria Dasgupta 6-11, 7-11, 7-11, 12-10, 12-10, 11-7, 12-10.

Table tennis
Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has requested ITTF to allow it to field two wildcards in both the men?s and women?s section at the Asia Cup table tennis meet to be held here in September. Normally, the host country is allowed one wildcard for each section, but TTFI has sent in a request for two, informed a TTFI official.
Meanwhile, Ballygunge Culture Seminar will be the first in the city to boast a robot that will help paddlers during training. The robot, which is made in Germany will be unveiled on Wednesday. This will be the second such robot in the state, the first being in Siliguri.
Junior tennis
Dalhousie Institute and Different Strokes will organise a junior state-ranking tennis tournament from Tuesday to Friday. The meet, for under-10 and under-12 boys and girls, has attracted 130 entries.
Basketball
Calcutta Port Trust defeated Rakhi Sangha 62-51 while Police AC edged out Chetla Park AC 66-63 in the state division I basketball match at WBBA courts on Monday.
State league
Howrah edged past East Midnapore by a solitary goal in the Konark Sheet state league match in Howrah on Monday.
