Indians sweep semis berths

New Delhi: Indian cueists created history securing all the four semi-final berths in the IBSF billiards championship at Qawra, Malta on Saturday.

Geet Sethi, Devendra Joshi, Ashok Shandilya and Pankaj Advani stormed into the last four making it an all-Indian affair.

In the two by one hour and a half session quarter finals, top seed Geet Sethi defeated compatriot Alok Kumar 999-687 to set up a semi-final clash with Joshi, who overcame a stiff fight from Australia's Mathew Bolton 833-801.

Sixth seed Shandilya shocked third seed Joe Gretch of Malta 931-874 while Advani dismissed Australian Robby Foldvari 1111-544.

Earlier, in the pre-quarter finals, top seed Sethi defeated John McIntyre of Nothern Ireland 1586-319, while Advani thrashed Mark Boyle of Scotland 1572-566.

Alok had little trouble in packing off former champion and local hero Paul Mifsud 1020-651, Shandilya outplayed Larry Drennan of Ireland 1612-390 and Joshi got the better of compatriot Dhruv Sitwala 1253-634.
