Calcutta: Top seed Sunil Kumar Sipaeya made a smooth start in the $10,000 ONGC ITF Futures meet at the Calcutta South Club on Monday, dismissing Ravi Shankar Pathanjali 6-4, 6-2.
Wild card Rupesh Roy was made to work harder. He conceded the first set 4-6 to Kamala Kannan, scraped through the second set tie-break (9-7) before running through the decider 6-1.
Meanwhile, Vijay Kannan saw off Jaco Mathew 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 and Ajay Ramaswami whipped Saurav Sukul 6-2, 6-1.
