Bhubaneswar, March 13: East Coast Railway (ECoR) authorities have decided to run 49 pairs of special trains this summer for Howrah, Chennai, Secunderabad and Yesvantpur (Bangalore) through their route.
A release issued by the EcoR here said nine pairs of special trains between Puri and Howrah will run from April 17 to June 12. The 0410 Puri-Howrah summer special will leave Puri every Sunday at 9.30 pm and reach Howrah at 8.15 am on Monday.
It will leave Howrah every Monday at 11.05 pm and arrive at Puri at 9.15 am the next day.
Another 11 pairs of summer special from April 19 to June 28 between the same destinations will leave Howrah every Tuesday at 8.05 pm and reach Puri at 5.45 am the following day. It will leave Puri every Wednesday at 10.40 pm and reach Howrah at 9.00 am on Thursday.
To meet the rush during the summer holidays, nine pairs of summer special trains will operate between Howrah and Bangalore via Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Brahmapur and Visakhapatnam.
Similarly, 11 pairs of special trains will run between Tatanagar and Chennai via Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Rayagada, Vizianagaram while nine pairs will operate between Secunderabad and Howrah via Visakhapatnam, Palasa, Brahmapur, Khurda, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The authorities have also drawn up plans to provide additional coaches to meet the rush of passengers. The Howrah-Yesvantpur Express, Puri-Howrah Express and Bhubaneswar-Howrah Dhauli Express will get additional coaches during summer.
