New Delhi, March 4: India today said the European Union's offer on non-agricultural market access was inadequate and called for an equitable tariff reduction formula keeping in view the concerns of the developing countries, an official statement said.
At the WTO mini-ministerial meet in Kenya, Commerce minister Kamal Nath is reported to have said the EU's proposal for the Swiss-type formula was not adequate and required a lot of fine-tuning.
He also made a strong pitch made a strong pitch for liberalisation of movement of natural persons under Mode 4 in the services sector.
The Swiss formula involves a huge reduction in the high tariffs that developing countries have imposed to protect the sensitive sectors of their economy.
