Jamshedpur, Feb. 22: After mounting pressure on the Sidhgora assault case, police today identified those who attacked Ashok Kumar and his family members on the night of February 20.
The police have not only registered a case of trespassing and attempted murder against the attackers but also have raided their homes.
But none of the accused was arrested as all had fled their homes.
Those who have been identified include Dinesh Kumar, Nantu and Goldy Singh, residents of Dus Number Bustee, and Manish Prasad, Madan Prasad, Arun Kumar, residents of Bhima Road, Sidhgora.
According to the police, of the total 10 accused, the names of six have been known. The names of the remaining four accused are yet to be established. A gang of youths had on the night of February 20 entered the house of Ashok Kumar with swords and hockey sticks after a dispute that had cropped up over using abusive words at each other during a Saraswati Puja immersion procession.
The dispute had cropped up with Ashok Kumar?s son Amarjeet Prakash alias Raju. As a result, Ashok Kumar?s wife and younger son Raju were seriously injured and admitted to the hospital.
While launching the attack, the accused had also smashed the windscreen of Ashok Kumar?s Indica car.
Ashok Kumar and his elder son Suraj Prakash had also been assaulted but escaped with minor injuries.
His wife and younger son were admitted in the Tata Main Hospital for the treatment of injuries.
Deputy superintendent of police (city) S.K. Kujur said they have raided the homes of the 10 accused, but none of them could be arrested.
?All the accused have fled their homes. Maybe they are hiding somewhere in the city or have fled the city. But the police would continue attempts to trace them until the accused are booked,? said the deputy superintendent of police.
Kujur said there was slight provocation on behalf of the victim Raju during the procession, but the accused had retaliated severely by attacking them with swords and hockey sticks.
