Kidnap arrest

Durgapur, Feb. 9: Middle-aged Kamala Singh was arrested at Sagarbhanga School Para in Coke Oven police station area here on charges of kidnapping 14-year-old Niru Thapa. Niru, a school dropout, and Kamala both went missing 10 days ago.

Kamala was taken to the police station by Niru?s father Amar, a driver, when she returned home today. District superintendent of police N.K.Singh said Kamala had a shady background and had been arrested earlier for luring young girls into the flesh trade.

Acid attack

Midnapore: Rabindranath Rana, 50, died when a couple who allegedly owed him money poured acid on him at Lakshmanda village of West Midnapore on Tuesday night. The attackers have been arrested.

Bomb blast

Tamluk: A railway employee, Debasish Naik, was injured when a bomb exploded on the tracks near Raghunathpur station in the Digha-Shalimar section of Southeastern railway.
