Vadodara: Men?s top seed Achinta Sharath Kamal and women?s second seed Mouma Das, both representing Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, clinched the respective singles titles in the national ranking table tennis tournament here today.

National champion Kamal subdued the challenge from second seeded teammate Subhajit Saha 4-1, after taking a commanding 3-0 lead, while Mouma got the better of giant killer T Pradeepa 4-0 in the title-clashes.

Kamal took the first three games 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 before Saha hit back to clinch the fourth quite convincingly at 11-4. However, the national champion recovered his stride quickly to clinch the fifth 11-6 for the match and crown.

Kamal defeated fourth seed Arup Basak (Bengal) 11-7, 11-8, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9 while Saha stopped Maharashtra?s unseeded Aniket Koparkar ? who upset third seed Soumyadeep Roy in the quarter finals, 11-7, 11-2, 11-9, 9-11, 11-4 ? in the semi-finals earlier in the day.

The women?s final saw Pradeepa, stretch Mouma to the limit though failing to win a single game. Mouma won 15-13, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8.

Mouma got past third seed N R Indu (IOC) 11-7, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 while Pradeepa ousted Tamil Nadu?s J Swarna 11-8, 11-3, 11-5, 11-8 in the semis held in the morning.
