Seth in celluloid

It?s an offer to remember for the suitable boy of Indo-Anglian literature. Vikram Seth has been approached by director Shekhar Kapur with an offer to convert Two Lives , in the stands last month, into celluloid. The memoir of the lives of Seth?s great-uncle and his German wife from pre- World War II days to the 1980s is a bestseller.

?Yes, Shekhar has spoken to me about film versions in Hindi and English. He also wants me to write the screenplay. I may just take the plunge,? Seth said. The writer?s last brush with celluloid was not particularly memorable ? David Puttnam?s TV version of A Suitable Boy for Britain?s Channel 4 fell through due to a cash crunch.

Sources say that Perizaad Zorabian is among the contenders for the female lead.
