Naxalite held

Krishnagar, Dec. 29: Biswanath Mondal, a suspected Naxalite, was arrested today from Durgapur in Nakashipara area of Nadia. Police said Mondal was armed with a loaded improvised pipe-gun and bullets.

?Biswanath had escaped four months ago when we had conducted a big raid in Nakashipara and seized arms, ammunition and leaflets,? a senior official said.

Girl run over

Calcutta: Parija Khatoon, a 12-year-old student of Kakdwip Girls? High School, was run over near the Kakdwip weekly market by a private bus when she was returning from school. She has been admitted to a local hospital.

Behrampore: Railway minister Laloo Prasad Yadav will lay the foundation stone for news tracks, including a bridge, between Azimgunj and Jiagunj in Murshidabad on Thursday.
