Calcutta, Dec. 19: Two sons of a Border Security Force inspector were among seven people arrested last night on charges of committing a robbery in Salt Lake.
The arrests were made from parts of North 24-Parganas, Hooghly and Calcutta.
Businessman Rajendra Agarwal?s house at EC block in Salt Lake was looted early last month. Praveen Kumar, the North 24-Parganas superintendent of police, said: ?All seven together robbed the family of Rajendra Agarwal on November 2. During interrogation, Tinku Rai, 18, and his brother Pintu, 20, who were arrested from Salt Lake, told us that their father, Chandra Bahadur, is posted in Tripura as a BSF inspector.?
The rest ? Feroz Alam, Guddu Singh, Raja Auddy, Sanjit Pal and Biswajit Barua ? were arrested from Uttarpara in Hooghly, Madhyamgram and Ghola in North 24-Parganas and Beleghata in the city.
An officer probing the case said: ?Among the seven, only Guddu is known to have a criminal past. He had fled from custody in July.?
