Imphal, Dec. 11: At least two jawans were killed and 20 injured in twin clashes with the militant Manipur People?s Army (MPA) in Churachandpur district in the past couple of days.

Quoting army reports, police sources today said two armymen were killed in an encounter with MPA militants at Pungtal in Churachandpur district yesterday. The police also said 20 army personnel were wounded, two of them seriously. The injured securitymen are being treated at the army hospital at Leimakhong.

The MPA is the armed wing of the banned United National Liberation Front.
