Bhubaneswar, Dec. 1: Building and Construction Authority (BCA), a Singapore-based company, has evinced interest to invest in the tourism sector of Orissa.
A 12-member BCA delegation led by the senior manager, (enterprise promotion department), business development division and India in-charge Koh Lin Jig was in the state last week to hold talks with tourism minister Surya Narayan Patro and explore investment opportunities.
The company has considerable experience in tourism development and allied activities, the minister said. Having worked in the field of tourism in Indonesia and China, the company is exploring the possibilities of investment in south Asian countries, he added.
Visuals of the golden triangle of Bhubaneswar-Puri-Konark, the Buddhist circle, sea beaches at Gopalpur and Chandipur, Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary and other places of interest were shown to the delegation.
While seeking a detailed tourism plan, the official wanted to know if Orissa is connected with south-east Asian countries by air. The minister also explained the steps the government has taken to develop the city airport into an international one.
The tourism department will prepare a detailed plan for the company. Besides Koh Lin, the delegation also included A.C.S. Jaipal, manager, India operations and other officials.
Orissa tourism secretary Ashok Tripathy and director, information and technology, Vishal Dev, were also present in the meeting.
