The young members of Theatrecian present Jean Paul Sartre?s hard-hitting play on racial discrimination. The corruption ingrained in the set-up comes to the fore when prostitute Lizy is raped by some whites but the blame is pinned on a black. Torn between her conscience and disbelief, Lizy decides the course of action.

A mother, a wife, but isn?t she also an individual? Middle-aged Shrimoyee is faced with the crisis when a man from her past reappears in her life. Having to choose between responsibilities and a desire to redefine her identity on stage is Swatilekha Sengupta, along with co-actor Meghnad Bhattacharya, in this Sayak production.

Muktadhara

The first-ever Forum Theatre festival in India, organised by Jana Sanskriti, features teams from Bengal, Tripura, Orissa, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Pakistan. The first day first show is Gayer Panchali, dwelling on oppression at the panchayat and political levels. Next up, Laadli Hamari by the Delhi troupe portraying a woman?s life. The evening wraps up with a Raibeshe performance, the folk form of Birbhum.
