Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: Man is a social human being. And army men couldn?t be any different.
However, a few tips could make the path to social interaction smoother. The Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE), a unit of the union ministry of labour and employment, is gearing up to under take a new project in which army personnel would be taught how to tackle situations involving civilians.
This is the first time that CBWE, a body which works for the uplift of labourers in the country, will deal with the army. CBWE has been playing a major role by imparting quality-based education to labourers in the organised and unorganised sector.
According to sources in the city-based regional directorate of CBWE, the central authority has prepared a project for the army in which officers would be taught about social behaviour and how to establish more cordial relations with people.
Sources said the rough demeanour of army men sometimes creates problems. The project would aim to help them to carry out their civilian duties more efficiently.
P.N. Sah, education officer, said the project, which is expected to start from next year, will be implemented across the country, including the Sonari-based army camp.
Sah who was addressing a seminar on Vision and Management at the Bank of Baroda said army men would be trained to bring about a change in their attitude. ?The project has been approved by the central body of CBWE and the labour and employment ministry and is waiting for the final nod from the Prime Minister before it is launched,? he said. The project will involve regular sessions, workshops and seminars on social behaviour.
?The project will help us understand local people better. Since most army men are deployed in border areas, they find it tough interacting with people when they are sent on civilian duty. This project can change that,? said S. Yadav, a retired major.
