Delhi aid for Assam floods

The Centre has released Rs 129 crore in cash and 100,000 metric tonnes of rice to the panchayat and rural department for flood-affected Assam.
The funds are meant for repair of rural infrastructure damaged in the floods.

DRDA review

A meeting of the governing body of the District Rural Development Agency for Kamrup, which was held recently, reviewed the progress made under several schemes in 2003-04.

Bank aid

Sanction letters were distributed to 140 self-help groups under several schemes by the Hajo branch of Allahabad Bank to commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of the bank.

Awareness

In a bid to bring back normal situation in Karbi Anglong district, the Karbi Students? Union has taken up a series of programme for mass awareness against violent activities in the past. The students? organisation also urged the government to withdraw the Armed (Forces Special) Powers Act from the Northeast.

Tech mission

The technology mission undertaken by the ministry of food processing industries is trying to expedite the growth of horticulture in the northeastern states. The mission is aiming at providing links for research and development till the horticulture produce reaches the consumers.

Study report

A report on The Study of Child Labour in Shillong was released at Raitong building by chief secretary P.J. Bazeley recently.

Taskforce

A meeting was held in Haflong on constitution of a district taskforce for disaster management. The meeting laid stress on immediate submission of the list of inhabitants in landslide-prone areas of the North Cachar Hills.

Khasi grant

The East Khasi Hills district administration has informed that each beneficiary under the national family benefit scheme for both rural and urban areas will receive Rs 10,000 soon. The list of beneficiaries can be obtained from the office of deputy commissioner, development branch.
