| Hospital power cut Calcutta, Oct. 13: Calcutta Medical College and Hospital went without power for more than an hour tonight. CESC sources said some buildings on the hospital premises plunged into darkness at 7.20 pm. Engineers of the power utility and the public works department, which maintains the hospital, jointly traced the fault and power was restored around 8.40 pm. Hospital deputy superintendent Amarendra Nath Biswas said some operations suffered. Dowry arrests Barasat: A mob went on the rampage at a house in Kazipara in North 24-Parganas, 30 km from Calcutta, on Tuesday night after a 21-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide. Police said Barnali Patra was pregnant and her relatives and friends from Khardah stormed the house, accusing her in-laws of killing her for dowry. The police held 26 persons for the raid and also arrested Barnali's husband, Buddhadeb, and his mother.
