Jamshedpur, Oct. 11: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar Burnwal has been invited to inaugurate the five-day international auto-parts trade fair at Gunsan city starting on October 13.
Gunsan mayor Kang Keun-Ho called up Burnwal this morning and requested him to be the chief guest at the trade fair.
Earlier, Burnwal and the Tata Motors industrialists had been extended an invitation to the fair. But the Gunsan mayor?s invitation for Burnwal to attend as the chief guest came today.
?Kang Keun-Ho called me up several times today requesting me to attend the trade fair as the chief guest. I have also got the state government?s clearance to attend the event,? Burnwal said. The deputy commissioner, will reach Seoul on October 13. Later, he will head for Gunsan accompanied by local authorities. ?I am looking forward to the visit as well as cementing the relationship between the two cities,? Burnwal said.
Nearly one-and-half months after his visit to the city to sign the historic ?sister-city? Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Gunsan mayor has invited the district officials, Tata Motors functionaries and industrialists of Jamshedpur to visit his city in Seoul.
The deputy commissioner will hold discussions with the Gunsan mayor and put forward proposals to have exchange programmes in arts, culture, health and economic sectors.
When Tata Motors acquired Daewoo Motors in Korea, chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata, was requested by the Gunsan mayor to have a sister-city relationship between Jamshedpur and Gunsan to bridge the cultural barrier and share excellence in various fields such as health and sports.
Tata readily accepted the proposal, which was also approved by the state and central governments.
The Gunsan mayor came down to the city with a high-level delegation to sign the MoU with the deputy commissioner of the district at Tata Auditorium on August 23.
