Calcutta: East Bengal club have received an invitation from Dubai to take part in a four-team tournament in the Gulf city.
According to the club sources, the tournament will feature club teams from Syria, Yemen and Jordan besides East Bengal. The tournament, to be organised by Dubai Police, will be held from October 25 to November 9. The organisers contacted the East Bengal club over phone on Wednesday and the official fax message would be sent in a day or two.
Meanwhile, in a club meeting on Wednesday, the officials decided to reply to the showcause notice slapped by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on the club?s denial to release players for the national camp.
The club also decided to pay Rs 14,500 to the AIFF, which it has demanded for Habibur Rahman Mondal?s clearance.
Incidentally, East Bengal players will leave for Kalyani on Thursday for their IFA Shield match against Mohammedan Sporting scheduled for Friday.
In another development, the IFA will declare the probables? names for the Santosh Trophy on October 2 or 3, while the final list is likely to be announced on October 12.
