Sourav trains

Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly had a two-hour practice session at the Pankaj Gupta Indoor cricket training centre on Sunday following his return from the disappointing Champions Trophy outing on Thursday.

The skipper did some stretching exercises, ran a few laps and spent some time with Bengal team's assistant coach Satinder Singh and trainer Ranadeep Maitra.

North 24 Pgs champions

Sheikh Sabir Ali scored the all important goal as North 24 Parganas DSA defeated Malda DSA 1-0 in the final to claim the Raju inter-district football tournament on Sunday.

Tie rained off

The semi-final of the Krishanu Dey Memorial under-19 football league between Mohammedan AC and Ever-Ready at the Mohun Bagan ground was called off due to rain, 30 minutes into the match.

Imran up

Top seeded Mohammed Imran made it to the quarter finals of the boys' under-14 category in the Aarbur Calcutta Hardcourt tennis championship defeating Sagnick Basu 6-2, 6-0 at the Calcutta South Club on Sunday. Iftekhar Hossain also reached the last eight stage beating Achintya Kejriwal 6-2, 6-1.
