Lucknow, Sept. 22: At least 34 people have been killed and 20 injured in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours following torrential rain that knocked down several houses, official sources said today.

Several died in their sleep when flash floods swept away their hutments. ?We have reports from Sitapur district that at least 32 people have been killed. The deaths are spread over a number of blocks. We are collecting details about the deaths,? Sitapur district magistrate Amod Kumar said.

Two persons were killed in a Lucknow suburb late last night when their houses collapsed. Rains lashed the state capital on Monday night and continued till early this morning.
