New York, Sept. 14: Diane von Furstenberg whisked her audience around the world in 45 outfits for her spring/summer collection at the New York Fashion Week yesterday.
The whistle-stop tour ? which reflected her own jet-set life ? raced through China, India, Africa, the major European cities and the Riviera, with outfits inspired by every stopover.
Taking a bow at the end, with her English co-designer, Nathan Jenden, a graduate of London?s Central Saint Martins fashion college, she explained: ?I wanted to celebrate the spirit of woman as a globe-trotting adventuress ? bold, confident and stylish, no matter what the circumstances.?
The collection embraced gypsy skirts made from glittering, Indian sari fabrics in spice tones; magic carpet-motif ponchos, hippy djellabas in bold leaf prints and Mexican-style peasant dresses in bright florals.
