New Delhi: Defending champions Oxford Higher Secondary High School, Aizawl, defeated Motibagh Government Boys Secondary School, Delhi, 2-1 in the inaugural junior section match in the 44th Subroto Cup football tournament on Wednesday.

In the day’s second match, NCC School from Imphal trounced Sainik School, Gopalpara 8-2.

For the Imphal school, Raju Mangand scored a hattrick while Tilminchan and Rajesh Singh netted a brace each. Sajan Kumar Singh converted the other goal for the winners.

Lalhlimthana put the Mizoram team ahead in the 21st minute. Three minutes later, the champions stretched their lead through Zion Lalramluaha. The local team reduced the margin at the hour mark through Rajesh. (PTI)
