Patil to carry talks hope to Manipur

New Delhi, Aug. 30: Union home minister Shivraj Patil will visit troubled Manipur on Sunday in the hope of initiating a dialogue to end the turmoil in the state.

Patil will separately meet legislators of the ruling Secular Progressive Front, the Opposition, former chief ministers and tribal leaders when he takes a day off from the North East Development Council meeting in Shillong.

Patil will attend the development council meeting on Saturday, spending nearly three hours with the chief ministers of the northeastern states before leaving for Imphal via Guwahati.

He will return to Shillong on September 6 to address the chief secretaries and development commissioners.
