Musah joins EB practice
Former East Bengal skipper Suley Musah joined practice at the club ground on Thursday. It was learnt from club sources that the Nigerian will be registered after coach Subhas Bhowmick’s green signal. “I am fit but it will take some time to get my rhythm going with the others,” Musah said after practice.
Inter-college meet
Netaji Nagar thrashed Baruipur 5-0 in a inter-college football tournament match for the Heramba Chandra Memorial Shield on Thursday. In another match, Bagnan College won over Bhairav Ganguly College 4-2, via the penalty shoot-out.
Big win for Chandannagar
Powered by Sheikh Sanjay’s three goals, Chandannagar SA defeated Burdwan DSA 5-0 in a inter-district sub-junior football tournament match on Thursday. Somnath Raut and Gagan Mondal completed the tally. In another match, Siliguri MKP beat North Dinajpur DSA 2-1.
Two bronze for Bengal
Two Bengal pugilists — Anil Burman (54-57 kgs) and Sarfaraz Ali (60-64 kgs) won bronze in the just concluded 51st senior national boxing championships in Hissar, according to a Bengal Amateur Boxing Federation release.
Karate meet
The 12th inter-school and college Gojukai karate meet and all-India invitational karate-Do tournament will be held at the Salt Lake Stadium on Friday. The tournaments will continue till Monday.
