Veteran Arup Basak lifted men’s singles crown of the all-Bengal ranking (stage II) table tennis championships, organised by Chandannagore District Table Tennis Association on Sunday. In the final, Arup beat Amit Mukherjee 12-10, 11-8, 16-14, 7-11 and 11-3.

Men’s singles: Arup Basak bt Amit Mukherjee 12-10, 11-8, 16-14, 7-11, 11-3. Women’s : Poulami Sinha bt Monalisa Mukherjee 11-6, 15-17, 11-3, 11-7, 11-4. Boys’ : Dipanjan Chowdhury bt Rana Das 12-10, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6. Girls’ : Monalisa Mukherjee bt Kabita Das 11-4, 11-9, 13-11, 11-6. Sub-jr boys’ : Pritam Bose bt Raj Mondal 11-6, 11-7, 11-7, 12-10. EB elections

In all 3175 members exercised their right to voting in the East Bengal club elections on Sunday. Eighty eight candidates for 22 posts — 10 office bearers plus 12 executive committee members — were in the fray. The counting was on at the time of going to press. Tapas Majumdar withdrew to his candidacy for hockey secretaryship, citing force used against his agent.
