Intikhab Alam slams PCB

Islamabad, July 10 (PTI): Former Pakistan captain Intikhab Alam has the PCB’s “inconsistent selection policy” and said it would harm the process of building a strong team. Alam was upset by PCB’s decision to ignore Aasim Kamal for the Asia Cup.

“Dropping middle-order batsman Aasim Kamal from the team showed the inconsistency of the selection committee. If the selectors want to build a strong team, they should be consistent,” the 63-year-old Alam was quoted as saying by a local daily. He said Kamal performed exceptionally well in the home series against India but was dropped on the excuse that he is a Test player. The selection committee, however, ignored the “indisciplinned” attitude of Imran Nazir, he added.

Coaching stint in Punjab

Meanwhile, Alam will coach the Punjab cricket team this season, Punjab Cricket Association secretary M.P. Pandove said here Friday (as reported in Saturday’s Late City edition). Alam has agreed to coach the state team from September 15 to March 31.
