Jamshedpur, June 10: Md Sporting defeated Gram Vikas Kendra (GVK) 6-5 in the tie-breaker of the ongoing Eighth Sumant Moolgaonkar Memorial Invitational Football Tournament at Telco ground today.

Both the teams were tied at 2-2 after the stipulated 70 minutes. Two costly misses by GVK in the penalty shoot-out helped the opponents post win.

The match witnessed some see-saw moments as both the teams went for goal scoring opportunity from the beginning.

Md Sporting striker Tanmoy Kundu drew first blood for his team by tapping a cross from inside the penalty area in the 28th minute. The team maintained the lead till the breather.

The latter half had Vikram Mardi finding the equaliser for GVK in the 39th minute before Dilip Mardi of the rival team scoring the second goal for his team in the 58th minute.

Boson Hansda scored the equaliser for GVK in the 60th minute, forcing match referee Vijay Vardha calling for penalty shootout.
