Lalgola, June 3: Three experts from the School of Tropical Medicine in Calcutta reached Nashipur today to inquire about the mystery fever that has claimed five children in 10 days.
The team criss-crossed the village, about 280 km from Calcutta, and collected blood samples of children showing similar symptoms. Murshidabad chief medical officer of health Sachchidananda Sarkar said the situation was under control even as villagers claimed that the fever had spread to three more villages.
One of the trio, Mrinal Kanti Ghosh, said it appeared to be a viral fever but no conclusion could be drawn yet.
