Ex-ABP officer dead

Calcutta, June 1: Parbatinath Mukhopadhyay, former chief of the personnel department of the Ananda Bazar group of publications, died in a city nursing home this evening after protracted illness. He was 87 and is survived by a son and three daughters. His wife died seven years ago.

Suffering from kidney ailment, Mukhopadhyay was admitted to the nursing home on Sunday. The cremation will take place tomorrow.

Mukhopadhyay was the personnel manager of Garden Reach Shipbuilders before joining the ABP group in 1964 as an industrial relations officer. Later, he became the personnel manager. Even after his retirement he was associated with the organisation as an adviser.

Mukhopadhyay started his career as a teacher and became headmaster of Metropolitan High School in Pathuriaghata.

He was also a skilled writer and wrote a number of articles in Ananda Bazar Patrika and Business Standard.
