CESC, ERSA triumph

CESC and Eastern Railway Sports Association (ERSA) etched out fighting victories in their BHA League group A matches here Thursday. While CESC beat Calcutta Port Trust 2-1, ERSA got the better of BNR 3-1.

Sunil Suri and Cristopher Thomas scored for CESC, Junas Bara throwing one back for Port Trust. The ERSA players finding the target were Nissar Ahmed, Pittus Ekka and Manoj Kujur, while B. Kujur scored for BNR.

Elliot Shield

Heramba Chandra College made it to the semi-finals of the Duckback Elliot Challenge Shield football tournament here Thursday, when they swamped Durgapur Govt College 9-2 in the quarter final.

Joydeep Bose (4), Kartik Koi (2), Swarup De, Jit Mukherjee and Swarnava Barua were the scorers in the winners’ big victory. Asish Prasad and Suman Tati hit the target for Durgapur.

Sanjit Dutta Bhowmick of Heramba Chandra was declared Man of the Match.

In the semi-final Saturday Heramba Chandra take on Netaji Nagar.

TTIS soccer

Mohammed Jan and Kodalia HS moved into the semi-finals with big quarter final victories in their TTIS inter-school football matches here Thursday. Jan beat Julien Day (G’Nagar) 9-1, while Kodalia beat La Martiniere 6-1.

In other quarter final matches of the day Frank Anthony beat Future Hope 3-2 and Don Bosco PC beat North Point by the same scoreline.

Colts’ cricket

Pal & Chatterjee CA (PCCA) beat Bournvita CA by six wickets to clinch the Rajnish Patel Memorial cricket tournament title at the Vivekananda Park Thursday. The mainstay of the PCCA victory was Sanjay Mishra’s 86. Mishra was declared Man of the Series.
