Chennai, May 2 (PTI): Two-wheeler major TVS Motor has drawn up an ambitious roadmap to cross the one-million mark in motorcycle sales for financial year 2004-05. “It will be a breakthrough year for us as we will achieve the one-million mark in sales of motorcycles this fiscal,” Venu Srinivasan, chairman and managing director of the company, told newspersons at the launch of TVS Victor GLX-125 — a power and style oriented 125 cc motorcycle targetted at the executive segment. He said the sales projections included 2.5 lakh units of the 100 cc Centra, 4 lakh units of Victor, 2.5 lakh units of Max and the balance coming from Fiero sales. Srinivasan said the company would be introducing the Max four-stroke vehicle in the month of August. The projected sales figures included this category also. Regarding introducing five-geared vehicles in the market, he said that the company feels this was ‘not the right time’. Talking about the company’s marketing plans in the country, he said plans are afoot to promote branding, advertising and other ‘on ground’ activities to push up sales. The new TVS Victor GLX 125 four-stroke comes with the revolutionary variable timing intelligent engines. It is designed for urban customers, who are looking for both fuel economy and performance. The engine has been developed in-house. The new bike is available both in drum-brake and disc-brake versions. |
