New Delhi, April 30: The Election Commission today ordered video recording of polling in 14 sensitive constituencies — including Lucknow, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s constituency — in Uttar Pradesh, reports our special correspondent.

The high-profile list also includes Mainpuri, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s constituency, Allahabad, from where human resource development minister Murli Manohar Joshi is contesting, Sambhal, Mulayam Singh’s son Akhilesh’s constituency, and Kanuj, where his brother Ram Gopal Yadav is in the fray.

The other seats on the list are Baghpat, Etawah, Hathras, Firozabad, Badaun, Banda, Bulandshahr, Meerut and Sitapur.

After the fracas over polls in Chhapra and Siwan, the commission does not want to take a risk. It has appointed two inspectors-general of police to monitor security arrangements across Uttar Pradesh on May 5 and 10.
